Welcome to our site and thank you for taking your time to learn about what we can offer you. I have lived
and boated in eastern North Carolina for more than thirty years. I trained at USCG Fort Macon and served as Commander in the
Coast Guard Auxiliary while racing and cruising the Carolinas, and North to Newport Rhode Island. Before that I raced (captain
ODU Sailing Team, MORC Fleet, class racing)) and sailed the Chesapeake Bay.
I am a retired educator and now have the time to use my experience and training to share the joys of our Carolina coastal
world and the wonders I have discovered in the Caribbean. I can offer custom group tours, charter opportunities, yacht delivery,
and on-the-water instruction.

My name is John Loggins. On November 12 2008 I purchased a Yung Sun ’43 in Broad Creek Marina North
Carolina. Together with my wife and 3 children we planned a trip to Salt Ponds Marina Hampton Virgin. We had 3 sailing lessons
between us and had never been on a boat larger than 20 ft long before. So we decided to hire a Professional Captain. We were
turned down several times by other Captains for reasons ranging from the direction we were headed and the time of year to
having children onboard. We were wondering if we were going to have to spend all winter in Broad Creek. Then a man comes down
the dock and introduces himself as Captain Joe Sizemore. We invited him onboard and after regaling him with our story of incompetence
and travel plans he agreed that we needed help and that he would be happy to help us.
Never have I met someone so willing to go above and beyond for his customers. He trained us in what we needed
to complete the trip and then went with us to the store to help us pick out the tools. He taught us navigation and let us
plot our own course using this new knowledge. He was with us every step of the way and made very sure that we did not endanger
ourselves or others. His vast knowledge of seamanship made us feel safe and secure while we tried our novice hands on the
wheel. He entertained us with stories and conversation and even took us to the best places to eat at each stop along the way.
His infinite patience with our children and us during what must have been a terrible chore speaks volumes to his character.
The weather was dismal and cold but it did not impact Capt Sizemore’s sunny disposition in the slightest. He was joy
to work with and made what could have been a trial in aggravation a vacation of learning.
I would recommend Capt. Joe Sizemore to anyone who wants to move a vessel of any size for any reason.
There is not a day goes by that I do not miss his humor and wisdom. Especially when docking.
